Yams

Hi hi !!

So it’s only a few days before I head back to the motherland for the summer, and as always, my mom asked me what I’d like to eat when I get back.

If you know me, you’d know that this is probably one of the hardest decisions I have to make- deciding what to eat. It’s not because I’m indecisive (as some of you may suggest) it’s because I want to eat too many things at the same time. My cravings are so erratic!

So I’m sitting in my cousin’s living room trying  to figure out a response for my mom, and bam! It hit me… I want yams! I haven’t had yams, as in REAL Nigerian, in fact Igbo yams in a loooong while.

In case you have no clue what I’m talking about, here’s a photo of a yam tuber.

But now the problem is, how do I want them prepared? My options are:

  1. Yam fries and egg sauce
  2. Boiled yam and (fish) stew
  3. Pounded yam and soup
  4. Yam in egg batter and stew
  5. Yam porridge
  6. Yam and pepper soup

I think composing this post just confused me even more! Lol

If you have access to yams, not sweet potatoes, you should definitely try one (or all) of these… And let me know how it turns out!
