You might call it Agbalumo, but where I come from, we call it Udara.
When I was younger, one of my uncles told me this fruit was called “African Cherry” in English. Today, I found out that I’ve been living a lie! It’s actually called African Star Apple. I am mind-blown, to say the least.
This fruit is a perfect blend of sweet and tangy. The core is filled with large brown seeds coated with the flesh of the Udara fruit. In the middle lies an extention of the plant’s stalk. If you chew it, it turns into chewing gum!
Here’s some more info about the health benefits of Udara, found on Naij.com
